Answers to our most frequently asked questions
Q. Can we bring and use our own fishing equipment ?
A. For fly-fishing trips we recommend you bring your favourite systems designed for the intended species.
Q. What is the allowable personal luggage on your ocean trips ?
A.We allow our guests to bring approx. 20-25lbs of luggage with them on our saltwater fishing adventures. Limited luggage policy is for safety and storage purposes. Please see our what to bring page for suggested items to bring with you on these trips.
Q. Do we need a fishing license ?
A.Yes! you will need a required fishing license for either the freshwater and/or saltwater fishing that you plan to do. Each of these basic licenses are seperately sold. Please see our links on the top right panel of this page to find out more information on fishing licenses.
~ If you plan to fish for steelhead on the rivers, you must have with you a Steelhead Conservation Stamp as well as your basic freshwater (non-tidal) fishing license.
~ If you plan to retain any salmon on the rivers, you must have with you a Salmon Conservation Stamp as well as your basic freshwater (non-tidal) fishing license.
~ If you are plan to fish for and retain salmon on the ocean, you must have a basic tidal license with a Salmon Conservation Stamp.

Q.When do we pay for our reservations / bookings for fishing ?
A. All reservations made before your actual date of departure, must be paid in full prior to trip. To make your actual reservation, we require you to hold your booking dates with a deposit.

A. Our drift boat's are designed to fish effectively with 2 guest's and a guide. We prefer to take only 2 guests per boat for comfort and quality of fishing trips. If we are just shore fishing from run to run, we are capable of providing seats for 3 guests and guide.
If your party is 8 persons or more, please contact us to arrange for extra guides and drift boats/rafts.
Q. How many guests can you take on your ocean fishing adventures ?
A. Each vessel is designed to fish comfortably and safely with 4 guests per boat. Our vessels are regulated for weight and safety equipment, so if children or small persons are wishing to join the party, we may accommodate them accordingly. Please notify upon reservations.
Q. Does Nautical West provide coolers for guests to take home ?
A. Sorry, but we do not provide our guests with coolers to transport their retained & processed fish to take home.
We do bag our guests fish for individual packaging and transport purposes.
Q. Do your provide rain gear for your guest ?
A. Yes, we provide a good selection of sizes in rain gear for our adult guests if needed. Please notify upon reservation as we do not always have all sizes on vessels at all times.
Q. Do your ocean vessels have washroom facilities ?
A. Yes, our ocean vessels have washroom facilities on board for use.
